Cast-off!
02:40
|
|||
Summer comes,
and young men's hearts turn to the ocean
When a fairl wind blows,
Young men's hearts are set on wandering
Come away! Come away!
Come and sail upon the breeze
Come away! Come away!
Sail across the seven seas
Trim the sails
and turn our prow to the horizon
Set a course
for seas where no man's sailed before
Come away! Come away!
Come and sail upon the breeze
Come away! Come away!
Sail across the seven seas
So goodbye, my love
I'm bound to cast off in the morning
So say a prayer
for those in peril on the sea
Come away! Come away!
Come and sail upon the breeze
Come away! Come away!
Sail across the seven seas
Come away! Come away!
To an undiscovered country
where a young man's heart
can rest awhile in peace

Carry On
04:21
|
|||
Mary Softly of the morning
wake your tired eyes
Ferry down across the water
where your true love shines
Far 'cross the sea!
That's where I'll be!
Carry on now my son!
'Till the West has been won!
Carry on! Carry on!
Leas and pastures
Underneath the stars
Follow where your heart is waiting
while the world's still dark...
Far 'cross the sea!
That's where I'll be!
Carry on now my son!
'Till the West has been won!
Carry on! Carry on!

Wandering Stars
04:52
|
|||
Count the wandering stars
and whisper all their names
alone, adrift under the turning sky
A thousand distant eyes
under the vault of Heaven's view
dim above this endless sea of blue...
The Milky Way's faint trail
where tradewinds find lost shores
perhaps too far away, perhaps too sad
The pole star and Orion
while young sailors watch and stand
and dream of lovers left back on dry land...
Above the blackened waters
and the stench of salt and sea
each sailor breathes a prayer for home's fresh breeze
'Cause wind and tied drive on and 'round
our stormy cruel blue sphere
Lord, take me far away from here...

Davey Jone's Locker

It's three long months since we
weighed anchor in home port
just to pull on the sails
and drive into the east
With her captain and able crew
our sturdy vessel
rides over the swells
on the wings of the breeze
And the waves will run high
and the gulfs will wash down
and the endless horizon's
the goal that we seek
And the bells in the city
ring twenty one times
for the boys who are seeking
their fortune at sea
We set in late last night
shore leave was given
and found us a place
where the whisky flowed free
This land and its women
are beautiful and strange
and I know it's a sailor
I's born here to be...
And the waves will run high
and the gulfs will wash down
just to break o'er the shores
on some far away sand
And the bells in the city
ring twenty one times
for the boys who are strangers
lost in a strange land
Our passage home
was a hard one
and foul winds
battered us down
as the weather turned black
And I heard through the blast
"Boy's, it's been good to know ya,
we've wrestled with fortune
and never looked back...!"
And the waves will run high
and the gulfs will wash down
to the deep with the fishes
and poor sailor's bones
and the bells in the city
ring twenty one times
for the boys who are gone
and ain't never come home...

Castaway
03:50
|
|||
Far from the shores
of our lost motherland
driven off course
by towering seas
and sheets of rain
Over North waters
the ices grow thick
on this cold dawn lit morning
like the ice on my face
The storm rages on
and the timbers are reeling
while gulls feast on corpses
of sailors at rest
Sunday is certain,
a day for old sorrows
to gather and loom
over the lot of all men
This was our future
our past casting shaddows
the sins of our fathers
like chains on my heart
The sea was my refuge
her love was my warmth
a fresh homeward breeze
was my hope and delight
but all hope is grass
dry and waiting to burn
we are god's missing children
with blood on our hands
Stranded and cut off
from all we once loved
Castaway's searching heaven
for some proof we're alive

Young Sailor
04:05
|
|||
Young sailor,
take heart my boy be strong
'cause the sea is still a stranger
yeah, wave's as sweet as brine
and crows still circle far above the stars
And the West sun keeps on shining
even though the dark skies comes
So drink up, young sailor
while the black clouds loom
Yeah, let's all pull together,
come sea and salt and air
So drink up, young sailor
lost below the moon

Proof of Ghosts Toronto, Ontario
I'm riding away, picking up steam, moving along at my own special speed. There in the grass by the tall shady tree, watching life pass in the warm summer breeze. Maybe today the sun will shine down on me and my blues will fly away. So babe take my hand and ramble with me, I aint got no plans and I do as I please. Summer aint long but the summer is sweet and life may be ours for the moment at least ... more
